Increasing Pallet Density for a Chemical Bottling Operation A cleaning chemical bottling company in Flint, Michigan needed to increase pallet storage capacity while making better use of its available warehouse footprint. With finished products and materials stored by SKU, traditional selective pallet racking would have required too much aisle space. Pantero provided a 3-deep push back pallet racking system, allowing the customer to store three pallets deep within each storage lane while loading and retrieving pallets from a single aisle.
The Solution
The push back system uses nested carts that allow pallets to be loaded three positions deep. As a new pallet is placed into the lane, it pushes the previous pallets farther back. When the front pallet is removed, the remaining pallets roll forward toward the aisle. The Result
The new push back racking allowed the customer to increase pallet density without adding additional warehouse space. By reducing the number of aisles required for pallet access, more of the existing building could be dedicated to actual product storage. For a bottling operation handling multiple pallets of the same products, the 3-deep configuration provided a strong balance between storage density and quick forklift accessibility.
